Graduated from St Salvator’s College and University of St. Andrews. Continued his education at the Danish court where he served Christian IV as an agent of the Stuart court. Appointed gentleman of the privy chamber of James VI (1622). Attended the English parliament as a translator. Sir Robert continued in his role as ambassador under Charles I. Returned to London 1631. Purchased estate of Wheatley, Doncaster (1636).&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
