Called to the bar 1709. Solicitor-general (Scotland, 1717-20), Lord Advocate (1720-25). Lord of Session (1737-53) and Lord President (1748-53), both as Lord Arniston.&lt;br /&gt;
Posts received under patronage of the Duke of Roxburghe, head of the Squadrone. Elected MP for Edinburghshire, securing the Jacobite vote. Voted with the opposition. On acceptance of a judgeship (1737) Dundas left politics. &lt;br /&gt;
Deemed one of the greatest lawyers in Scotland during the 18th century, Dundas died in 1753.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
