Educated with James VI. One of ambassadors sent to England to press Parliament to James’ claim to throne (1601). Accompanied James to England. Made a Knight of the Garter and Privy Councillor. Received royal grant giving him full English privileges. Resided between England &amp;amp; Scotland. &lt;br /&gt;
Made High Treasurer of Scotland (1616) and invested with the white rod. Summoned to Whitehall (1626) to discuss royal policy. Died at Stirling (1634)&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
