Only son of [[Grant, Ludovick]]. Educated at Westminster (1747-55) and Christ's College, Cambridge (1756-58). Entered public life under patronage of Lord Kinnoull and the archbishop of York, being elected MP for Elginshire (1761). Gave up his seat at the 1767 election to his uncle, Francis Grant. Died 1811.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
