Appointed port admiral of Portsmouth (1757-67).<br /> Elected MP for Stirling Burghs(1761) on petition, winning the Earl of Bute's favour. Appears in lists as pro-Administration.<br /> Made a lord of the Admiralty (1770-1) and appointed governor of Greenwich Hospital (1771). Died 1771.</div>
