Member of the Committee of Estates (1641, 1644-5). Raised a troop of horse for king's cause and entered England in 1648. With execution of Charles I, Sinclair joined Charles II in exile at The Hague. Accompanied Charles II's invasion of England. Captured at Battle of Worcester and was imprisoned in Windsor Castle until 1660. Made privy councillor (1661) having returned to Scotland. Died 1674 and buried at Greyfriars, Edinburgh.</div>
