Minister of Pettinain (1664). Deprived for supporting presbyterianism (1667) and eventually banished from Scotland (1672). Travelled to London, where he became first minister of the Scots Kirk at Founder's Hall (1672). Will proved at Edinburgh, 30 July 1678 (died 1677). Wife named as executrix.
