Left Scotland when he was very young, and moved with his parents to Sunderland, where his father worked as a mason. After about 7 years his father died, and he travelled around England with his mother, who sold hardware. Married about 2 years ago, and rents a house in Bishop Auckland for 15s a year. Has gained no settlement since birth. Examined as a vagrant, 4 November 1740.
