Believed Ramsay, who was unhappy with religious developments in England, had enlisted Swedish support to alter the government of England. Ramsay returned to England and was tried; found not guilty of treason, though jury did find him to be guilty of seditious activities against the King. Both Ramsay and Lord Reay were confined to the Tower of London. Died in Covenant Garden (1642).
