Examined as a vagrant at Marlborough, 26 January 1742. Born in Scotland, where she lived until she married John Read, a soldier and former shoemaker in Aberdeen. He had enlisted about 10 years previously in Lord Cornwallis' regiment, but has gone AWOL and abandoned his wife and daughter. Given vagrant's pass to Aberdeen.
