Apprenticed to John Kellet, smith of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 24 August 1716. Son of William Currey, yeoman of 'Kirkopp' in Scotland (deceased). Later admitted as a smith, and took as apprentices fellow Scots Elliott, John and Elliott, Adam.
