Viscount Dupplin and Lord Hay of Kinfauns (1626). Created Earl of Kinnoull (1633) Attended Scots College in Pont-a-Musson, France. Returned to Scotland 1596. Had little to do with court until ascension of James VI to English throne. Introduced at court by first cousin, James Hay. Became a gentleman pensioner and gentleman of the privy chamber. Used court connections to establish a business career in Scotland. Frequently attended court. Died in London (1634) and buried at Kinnoull
