Sixth Earl of Rothes. One of three young nobles sent to London to petition King Charles I against the Revocation edict. Rothes won the king’s favour and received rewards. Became an active agent on behalf of the covenanters. In 1640 was appointed one of the Commissioners from Scotland to manage Scots affairs in London. Rothes seems to have gained favour at Court. Remained in London where he died at Richmond-on-Thames 1641. Rothes was buried at kirk of Leslie.
