Came to London with his first wife, Elizabeth, c.1695, and in c.1704 hired himself as hostler to Mr Hambledon, keeper of the Nagg's Head Inn on Vive Street. Served about a year, paid 28s per year plus food and lodging. Lodged in Bedford Bury for about 26 years. Elizabeth died, c.1722, and he married his second wife, Jane, in a Catholic Chapel in St James parish. She died c.1725.
