Examined for settlement in St Martin in the Fields, 17 November 1732.  Aged about 47.  Wife of chapman [[Hardy, John]], whom she married in Edinburgh, c.1707.  Has been in London since at least c.1723, when John died.  Initially rented rooms in Hemmings Row for £13 per year in rent.  Daughter, Eleanor (b.c.1720) is in service.

Eleanor Hardy aged about 47 years in the Workhouse saith she is the Wife of John Hardy deced about Nine Years agoe to whom she was married at Edinburgh in Scotland about 25 years since where they were both born that he was never brought up to any Trade but sold Cloth about the Country that he never kept House that they Rent 2 Rooms on two pair of stairs and a Garret about a yearsof one Mr John Norman then living in Hemmings Row in this parish paid 13£ Pr Ann Rent but paid no Taxes and never rented 10£ Pr Ann afterwards hath one Daughter named Eleanor aged abt 12 years now at Service at Katherines
