Also known as Sir James Ramsay; called Black Ramsay Accompanied King James to London and appointed attendant in the privy chamber of the king and of Prince Henry. Entered the Danish services but was sent back to the Stuart kingdom (1611) to levy recruits. Left Danish military for the Swedish service. Spent life in Europe and died imprisoned in Germany (1638/9.
