8th lord Cathcart; Married Marion Schaw at St Mary Magdalen, Old Fish Street, London (1718). Cathcart served as groom of the bedchamber to George II (1727-32) and was elected a representative peer for Scotland (1734). Taken ill and died whilst sailing to the West Indies
