Graduated from St Leonard's College (1588-1589). Moved to London (1603). Groom of the Privy Chamber (1608). Knighted (1612). Secretary to Queen Anne (1612-1619) and to Queen Henrietta Maria (1625-1638). Granted denization (1615). Published Latin poems during his lifetime, and English poems posthumously. Also reputedly composed in Greek and French.
