Educated at Edinburgh, graduating MD (1735). Granted MD from Cambridge (1753). Licentiate (1752) and Fellow (1754) of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. Published two medical works, 'A Dissertation on the Stone in the Bladder' (1738) and' A Scheme of Lectures on the Animal Oeconomy' (1739).
