Moved to Breda to live with father. After several years in the Dutch Republic, sought to return to Glasgow by sea (c.1732), but ship sprung a leak and forced to land at Goodwin Sands. Wandered through London, Bath, Bristol, Wales and Lancashire in search of relief and a means to return home.
