Minister of Dunfermline (second charge) (1673), Kinglassie (1676), Wemyss (1678) and St Giles (1685). Professor of Divinity at St Andrews (1682) and principal of Edinburgh University (1685). Nominated as bishop of Argyll (1688), but never admitted. Staunchly episcopalian, he was forced from Scotland after the Revolution (1689).
