Minister of Kirkpatrick Durham (1657), but deprived following the restoration of bishops (1662). Became an itinerant presbyterian preacher in southern Scotland and occasionally northern England. Briefly imprisoned at Canongate Tolbooth (1681), but escaped and lived in exile in England. Returned to Scotland after the death of Charles II (1685). Minister of Jedburgh (1690)
