MP for Haddington Burghs (1742-1747, 1761-1768) and East Lothian (1747-1761). Served as King’s remembrancer in the Exchequer (1768-70). As an MP, travelled between London and Scotland. Acted as a London agent for several members of his family. Brother of Dalrymple, Stair.
