(Sixth Lord), First earl of Home. Appointed Sheriff of Berwickshire (1592) and Captain of the King’s Guard (1593). Sent as ambassador to France (1602). Accompanied James VI to England. Returned to Scotland due to appointment as lieutenant and justiciar over all three Scottish marches. Whilst accompanying wife to England, died in London 1619 though was buried in Scotland.
