2nd Marquess of Huntly. His father was ordered by King James to send him to court with aim of instilling both political and religious loyalty. Attended Prince Henry of Wales. Made knight of the Bath (1610). Returned to Scotland. Travelled to France 1632, stopping to visit court en route. Joined Charles I at Berwick (1639) and remained a month. Refused to sign national covenant and rejoined king in England. Returned to Scottish estates in 1642. Executed as a royalist (1649)
