Fourth Marquess of Huntly. Educated in France (1668) before travelling the Continent. Returned to Scotland (1672) but returned abroad for military pursuits. Returned to London (1675) and appointed to Privy Council and a Lord of the Treasury. Created Knight of the Order of the Thistle (1687). Sent as governor of Edinburgh Castle, defending it for King James. Died in Scotland, 1716.
