Seventh earl of Morton. Attended parliaments in Edinburgh. Sat in numerous conciliar committees to discuss export of wool to England (1624). Political focus changed in 1624 when he was appointed to the prince's council. Spend much of his time at Whitehall until his return to Scotland in 1625. Present at king's funeral and remained at court during change of administration. Returned to court in 1638 during signing of the national covenant. Also attended king at York (1642). Died 1648 at Kirkwall Castle
