Studied on the Continent but returned to London 1698. He married his first wife at St Bride's, Fleet Street. Sat in Scottish Parliament of 1703-7. Grant was appointed one of commissioners to arrange the union with England. Regiment stationed in England during Jacobite rising. Appointed constable of Edinburgh Castle (1715). Died 1719.
