William of Skedduay. Third son of Henry St. Clair of Herdmanston and Barbara Cockburn. Ensign in the First Royals (1708). Captain Grenadier Company of the Cameronians (1711). Rose to rank of major in the First Royal Scots (1737). Died unmarried in London and was buried at St. Andrew’s, Holborn.
