Member of the Squadrone, Gordon represented Sutherland between 1708 and 1727 on the interest of the 16th Earl of Sutherland. Voted with the Government. Returned for Cromartyshire (1741-2) by his son-in-law, the 3rd Earl of Cromartie. Voted against the Government in the Chippenham election petition (1742). Gordon died the same year.
