Surname is that of his mother's and is Netherlandish in origin. Followed in his father's footsteps as a painter. Employed at court in London where he was paid for two full-length portraits of the king. Also received patronage of George Seton, earl of Winton. Many of Colone's clients were Scots in London. No further records of Colone beyond 1628.
