Migrated to London and painted single portraits whilst living off the Strand. By 1730s, began to specialize in the new genre of the conversation piece, which gained him some renown. Member of the informal Rose and Crown dining club of artists. Died at his lodgings near St. Paul's, Covent Garden in 1737.
