Examined for settlement at St Martin's in the Field, 14 November 1740. Aged 54. For a time rented a house in Hewitts Court, the Strand, at £20 annual rent. Left that house about three years earlier, and has not kept any house since. Has been a widower for about two years
Francis Walker aged 54 years now living in Mays Buildings in St Martin's Lane where he hath lived half a year saith he is by trade a Hatter and served his time in Scotland, that he lived in and rented a house in Hewitts Court in the Strand in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of three quarters a year and upwards, that he paid 20 pounds per ann. fent for the same and to the poor and other parish taxes, which house he left three years ago and hath not kept any house rented 10 pounds per ann. paid any parish taxes or been a yearly hired servant since, that he is a widower and hath so been two years, hath no child living. Sworn the 14th Day of November 1740 before me Val Hilder.
