‘22 Ocr. 1632 Whereas one James Anderson of Lyeth in Scotland having Brownish haire on his head & beard was this day taken idle in the Toune wandering & begging and being now examined can gyve noe accompt of his manner or lyvinge and hath confessed that he hath travelled by a counterfitt passé now by him shewed to this Board. It is therefore agreed that he shallbe whipped out of the Toune as a wandering Rogue and have a passé so to be conveyed from constable to constable to Lyeth in Scotland aforesaid’.
