Married John Gordon, apprentice merchant of London, in either Edinburgh (according to her) or London (according to her husband). Lived in Edinburgh (c.1703-c.1719 - husband claims until c.1713). Moved to Breda to live with father. After several years in the Dutch Republic, sought to return to Glasgow by sea (c.1732), but ship sprung a leak and forced to land at Goodwin Sands. Wandered through London, Bath, Bristol, Wales and Lancashire in search of relief and a means to return home.
