First Earl of Panmure. Received military commissions, rising through the ranks. MP for Forfarshire (1735-87). Due to military career, seems that Panmure was seldom in the House. Supporter of Duke of Argyll. Then followed the Bedford party into opposition (1760s). Re-elected in 1768, switched voting to the Administration. Died 1782.
