Enjoyed patronage of Dukes of Atholl, for whom he designed a townhouse on Grosvenor Place (1770). Designed Barons Court, Co. Tyrone (1779–1782), Attingham Hall, Shropshire (1783–1785) and Stoke Park, Wiltshire (1786–1791). Also designed two churches in Shropshire. Moved from London to Douglas, Isle of Man (c.1790), where he designed several buildings, including Castle Mona (1806).
