Examined for settlement in St Martin in the Fields, 23 November 1750. Lodging at a chandler's shop in Legg Alley. Trained as a tailor in Fife, but in London by c.1727, when he was a hired servant to Mr Andrew Thompson, tailor in the Strand. Paid 40s annual wages for the first year, then £3 and £5 for the second and third years respectively. Left employment c.1730, and claims to have been working as a tailor since then.
