Mentioned in the settlement examination of his wife, Hannah, in St Martin in the Fields, 26 January 1738. Born in Scotland and brought up in the linen trade. Served as a soldier, and in London by August 1732, when he married Hannah at the Fleet. Currently, since September 1737, on a mission to raise recruits for the colony of Georgia.
