Mentioned in the settlement examination of his widow, Margaret, 31 October 1752. Originally from 'Forabus', probably Fochabers, in Banffshire, where he served his apprenticeship as a carpenter. Subsequently moved to London, where he married Margaret 'at the Fleet' c.1725. Son James born in St Martin in the Fields, 11 July 1727. Died c.1734. Margaret subsequently re-married to William Waterson, wig-maker of Fleet Street.
