Minister of Brechin (second charge) (1745). Minister of Alloa (1753). Transferred to the presbyterian congregation at Monkwell Street, London (1760), where he remained until retiring to Hampshire and Bath in the 1770s. One of most celebrated and fashionable preachers in London. Died at his home in Bath (1796). Brother of Fordyce, Alexander, Fordyce, David and Fordyce, William
