1st earl of Panmure. Served as page to James VI, moving with King to England in 1603. Served as groom of bedchamber. Made keeper of Elthan Park (1625). Maintained strong Scottish connections, accepting principal sheriffship of Forfar (1632), alongside other appointments in the 1630s. Attended Charles I at York & Oxford (1642-3). Appears to have returned to Scotland during Cromwell, died probably at Panbride
