‘Town and County Kingston upon Hull

The Constables of the Town of Kingston upon Hull afd or to any of them and also to the Master of the house of Correction in the said Town and likewise to all Governours or Masters of all houses of Correction to receive and convey and to the Church wardens Chappell Wardens and overseers of the poor of the parish of Kirkgodly in North Britain to receive and obey

Whereas Hannah Taylor widow and Hannah Taylor her Daughter were apprehended in the Town of Kingston upon Hull afd as Rogues & Vagabonds and brought before me William Wilberforce Esqr Mayor of the sd Town & one of his Majties Justices of the peace of and for the said Town & County of the sd Townand upon examination of the said Hannah Taylor widow upon oath it doth appear that the said Hannah Taylor widow and Hannah Taylor her daughter are Rogues & Vagabonds with the true intent & meaning of the statue in that Case made & provided and that the place of their last legal settlement is at Kirkgodly in North Britain where John Taylor late husband to the said Hannah Taylor widow and Father of the said Hannah Taylor her Daughter served all apprenticeships to a sadler These are therefore to require you the said Constables or any of you to convey the said Hannah Taylor widow and Hannah her Daughter to the house of Correction at Kingston upon Hull aforesaid & you the said Master of the house of Correction at Kingston upon Hull afd. are hereby required to receive the said Hannah Taylor widow and Hannah her Daughter into your Custody and them to convey or cause to be conveyed to the first house of Correction in the next County or place in the direct way to the parish of Kirkgodly aforesaid & in like manner every other governour or master of every house of Correction in the next County or place to whom it may belong to convey the said Hannah Taylor & Hannah her Daughter from house of Correction to house of Correction until they shall arrive at the house of Correction belonging to the County City Town Corporate Burrough Riding division or liberty to which the parish of Kirkgodly Doth belong and the Master of the house of Correction last mentioned to convey & deliver or cause to be conveyed or delivered the said Hannah Taylor widow and Hannah her Daughter to some Church Warden Chappell Warden or overseer of the poor of the parish of Kirkgodly aforesaid to be there provided for according to Law and you the said Church Wardens Chappell Wardens and overseers of the poor are hereby required to receive the said Hannah Taylor widow and Hannah her Daughter and provide fro them as aforesaid given under my hand and office the Twenty Eighth Day of July ------ 1741 W Wilberforce Mayor’
