Master of the Royal Scottish Corporation (1702-1703), to which he donated £20.
ODNB: Graduated MA from St Andrews University (1671) but studied medicine on continent (possibly Leiden & Paris) graduating from Rheims in 1684. Returned to Edinburgh but moved to Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1687. Migrated to London in 1689 and named extra-physician to William & Mary (1690) and elevated to physician of the person later that year. Became fellow of Royal College of Physicians (1690) Named superintendent of surgeons fleet (1691) Wellwood died at his home in York Buildings, the Strand and was buried in St Martin-in-the-Fields. Also wrote history of reign of Charles I at request of Queen Mary published as 'Memoirs of the most Material Transactions' (1700)
