Co-tutor to James VI, and later his ambassador to Denmark, as well as king's almoner and privy councillor. Accompanied James to England (1603). Tutor to Prince Charles (1604). Granted future lease of Quernmore, Lancashire by James VI (1606), but sold his rights (1607).
