Examined for settlement in St Martin in the Fields, 17 June 1735. Born in Scotland, where he trained as a tailor, but came to London c.1697 as a servant Alexander Thomson, tailor in York Buildings, earning £9 annual salary plus food and lodging. Left Thomson c.1701, and has since served multiple masters on short-term contracts. Married at Lincoln's Inn, c.1716, but widowed c.1730.
