Robert Monro of Foulis, called the Black Baron. Travelled to England c.1617 to marry Mary Haynes and settled there with her but headed to Scotland together within the year. Monro persuaded Haynes to remain in Newcastle and abandoned her there. In 1624, James VI and I commanded that Monro be apprehended on charges of bigamy. Although Monro tried to escape, realised the futility and surrendered to the council. Probably escaped from Edinburgh, fled and served in the Swedish army. Died from wounds in battle at Ulm, 1633.
